CONCEPT

We believe that our bodies and minds are wired for movement. That to endure, to carry, to move forward is deeply human. That training gives us what modern life often lacks: freedom, clarity and a way to interact with the world. Inspired by these ideals, CLOBBER was founded to create elevated training essentials.

_____

I’d spent fifteen years training, living in “performance” gear, and yet nothing I was wearing truly spoke to me anymore. The quality wasn’t there. The styles felt dated. The clothes no longer matched the energy I felt whilst training, or the way I dressed outside of the gym. So I set about designing pieces that could handle the demands of a mixed-modal training regimen, while carrying the same attention to detail you’d expect from modern fashion.

When thinking what to call the brand, I wanted something that would instantly affiliate us with London. A word that would mean something to people from our home city, but spark intrigue from those further afield. As a deeply personal project, the name needed to have sentimental value. A term I picked up from my Dad and Grampa at a young age, I’d been using “clobber” to refer to my clothes and accessories for most of my life, without ever giving it a second thought. I liked the concept of pairing this gritty, informal term with a functional, simple font for the brand wordmark. The duality reflected the people we wanted to serve and the products we wanted to create.

_____

At the brand's core is a respect for quality: of craft, of movement and of life. For this reason, we take our time with product development, carefully considering every fabric, fit and trim decision in the process. We make our pieces from the best technical and environmentally-conscious materials that we can find, and partner with specialist, family-owned factories in Europe to bring our designs to life. We test each prototype ourselves in diverse training conditions to make sure it performs the way we need it to. If something doesn’t meet our standards, we rework it until it’s right.

This slower, more deliberate approach means that we don’t release new products every month, but when we do, you can trust they’ve been designed with intention, and created to last.
