SPIT IT OUT: JERMAINE JONES
This is Spit It Out, where we send a list of questions to someone who inspires us, giving you an inside look at their life and training. In this issue, we're catching up with Jermaine Jones. Jermaine has been on our radar for a while now. You may have seen him on Instagram cranking major mileage wearing vintage graphic tees. When he dropped us a message telling us about his next challenge and asked if we'd back him, it was an easy yes. We sent Jermaine a few questions and here's what he had to say.

HOW WOULD YOUR RIDE-OR-DIE DESCRIBE YOU? Driven, always striving to make a positive impact on the world because any day could be your last. Always pushing beyond what seems possible.
WHERE ARE YOU LIVING AT THE MOMENT Sydney, Australia.
HOW DID YOU END UP THERE? After spending years in London, I started questioning if there were better options for balance and a healthier lifestyle. I travelled through Asia, met some amazing people who raved about Australia, and eventually made the move.
WHAT GOT YOU INTO RUNNING? Running was always part of my life through sports like rugby, but I’ve taken it much more seriously over the past four years.
TELL US ABOUT WHAT YOU'RE CURRENTLY TRAINING FOR. I’m training to run 34 marathons in 34 consecutive days, starting on 25 August. This will be the biggest running challenge I’ve ever attempted.
WHERE DID THE IDEA COME FROM? Originally, I planned to run 33 marathons; one for each local government area in Greater Sydney, but the logistics were too complex. So I shifted to running them locally and added a 34th marathon to wrap it up on a Saturday so more people could join me for the final run.
SO WHAT DOES A TYPICAL TRAINING WEEK LOOK LIKE FOR YOU AT THE MOMENT? My week includes two strength sessions focused on heavy lifts and time under tension. I run 4–5 times per week, mixing tempo runs, hill sessions, and back-to-back long runs on weekends. Right now, I’m clocking about 80–100 km per week.
HOW'S YOUR BODY HANDLING THE VOLUME? There are a few niggles here and there, which my coach and I are adjusting for but overall, I’m feeling strong thanks to months of preparation.
WHAT'S YOUR GO-TO POST-WORKOUT MEAL? I usually go for a high carb meal like a chicken and rice bowl or a good lasagna, something to refuel and aid recovery.
WHAT FLOATS YOUR BOAT OUTSIDE OF RUNNING? Music has always been a big part of my life, I used to DJ. I’m also passionate about art and into my streetwear.
EARPHONES FOR TRAINING - YES OR NO? Yes for gym sessions and tough runs. Easy runs, I prefer to be present and take in my surroundings.
WHAT ARE YOU LISTENING TO RIGHT NOW? A mix of Oasis and Black Sabbath
WHERE DID YOUR LOVE FOR GRAPHIC TEES COME FROM? I’ve always loved vintage clothes, but the graphic tees really stuck once I got deeper into running. Everyone tends to wear the same gear and I like standing out and expressing individuality.
